Description
Discover the stained glass windows created by Marc Chagall in 1974 for Reims cathedral. You will then extend the visit by exploring the Simon-Marq master glassmakers' workshop.
Part 1 (duration 1 hour):
Created in 1974 by Marc Chagall, the stained glass windows of the axial chapel of Reims cathedral continue the renewal of sacred arts that began in the 1950s. As in Metz, Chagall called on his friend Charles Marq.
Travel by bus, with our guide (transport ticket included) to the Simon-Marq studio (1/2h).
2nd part (duration 1h):
Founded in Reims in 1640 and now located in the Sacré-Coeur church in Reims, the Simon-Marq master glassmakers' workshop has a unique know-how in creation and restoration that has been passed on from generation to generation ever since.
Known worldwide for its collaborations with renowned contemporary artists such as Marc Chagall, the Simon-Marq workshop also perpetuates its mission of safeguarding heritage by reviving the colours of old stained glass windows, both religious and civil.
Meeting point: Greater Reims Tourist Office (6 rue Rockefeller - in front of the cathedral)
The activity may be cancelled if there are less than 5 participants (if the activity is cancelled, you will receive an e-mail 48 hours before the beginning of the visit and your credit card will be automatically re-credited with the total amount of the order).
Cancellation conditions: full refund up to 48 hours before the start of the activity (excluding booking fee of 3.5% of the total order).
